iOS app development

Native apps, from the first screen to release.

I design and build iPhone and iPad apps in Swift: the screens, the logic, the backend they talk to, and the App Store submission. When the app has to run on Android too, I build it in React Native instead.

An app project goes well when the first version is small enough to finish and good enough to use. Most of my work at the start is helping you cut the list down to that version.

What I build for iPhone and iPad

  • First versions for startups: the smallest app that tests the idea with real users.
  • Companion apps for an existing web product, talking to the same accounts and API.
  • Internal apps for teams: field work, inspections, inventory, anything done today on paper or in a spreadsheet on a phone.
  • Apps that connect to what you already run: your database, your CRM, your payment provider.

How an iOS app project runs

  1. A 30-minute call to understand the problem and who will use the app.
  2. Scope for the first version, with a fixed quote.
  3. Screens in Figma, tested as a clickable prototype on your own phone.
  4. The build in Swift, with a new TestFlight version every week or two that you install and use.
  5. App Store submission, including the listing, screenshots and privacy details.
  6. Handoff: the code, the design files and a walkthrough, all yours.

Native Swift or React Native?

My rule of thumb: if the app is mostly forms, lists and content, and you need Android at the same time, React Native saves you from paying for two apps. If it depends on the camera, audio, maps, background work or a feel that matches the rest of iOS, native Swift is worth it. I’ll recommend one on the first call and explain why.

What you own at the end

The app lives in your Apple Developer account, not mine. The repository, the Figma files and any backend are in your name, with notes on how to build and release a new version, so you are never locked in to me.

“He not only met our expectations but exceeded them, showing a complete commitment to quality and attention to detail.”

Questions I get asked

Do you build Android apps too?

Yes, with React Native, when the app needs iPhone and Android from the first version. For iPhone-only apps, or apps that depend on the camera, audio or background work, I build natively in Swift.

Can you publish the app to the App Store for us?

Yes. I prepare the listing, the screenshots, the privacy details and the submission, under your own Apple Developer account, and handle the questions from App Review if there are any.

Do I need a designer for the app?

No. I design the screens in Figma and you test a clickable prototype before any code is written. If you already have a designer, I build from their files.

Can you work on an app someone else built?

Yes. After a short review of the code and the project setup, I tell you what is safe to build on and what needs fixing first.

Who owns the app and its code?

You do. The app is published under your Apple Developer account, and the source code and design files are yours from the start.
